Last Time On.... | Next Time On....
After Thursday's nastiness I've had a very lovely weekend with Lyds and Ian. Friday night was Prison, which was understandbly quieter than normal but still tremendous fun. The Villians were a bit strange - Mark played two new tracks he'd written (the only one I can actually remember being Johnny Two Bands) and then the rest of the band came on. Neill looked like he'd chewed a wasp throughout but Mark and Alex really went for it, and they still sounded amazing. I also got to hear End of The Night, which whilst not quite the same without Charlie, still sounds bloody amazing. Chuck also played and as always were huge fun. I really love it when they do Oh No Not Ah - it's so silly! Although the club was quiet it was a chance for Lyds to mess around with what she wanted to play, and it gave me the chance to do a spot of djing for the first time in ages, which was brilliant. She played Scott Walker's Jackie, which I got insanely excited about, and a whole bunch of stuff that she doesn't generally get the chance to.
Saturday was quite laid back and lazy although we all went to Thames Court for lovely food and a bit of a walk by the river, and then Sunday we headed to Syon Park and lazed around under the trees. There's an aquatic centre there and we popped in to see the tortoises and watched with some astonishment as a great big bugger started to try and get through the fence. The staff didn't seem overly concerned initially - apparently this tortoise has been trying it on for 6 months - and I think they were rather surprised to step outside and find the tortoise jammed in a hole in the fence, head and front legs on one side and body on the other. The only way to sort it out was to let the tortoise out and he then proceeded to wander around the garden, eyeballing the owl in it's big cage, and trying to find something else to escape from. Tortoises can certainly move pretty fast when they want to. The guy in charge then asked if anyone wanted to see a baby and produced a 3 day old tortoise. It was tiny and one of the sweetest things I've ever seen. Another fast mover too.
